Effect of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Versus Aloe Vera on Healing of Deep Second-Degree Burn

    TLDR Aloe vera heals deep second-degree burns faster and better than mesenchymal stem cells.
    The study compared the effects of bone marrow-mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) and aloe vera on healing deep second-degree burns in 60 female Wistar albino rats. Aloe vera led to faster initial wound healing and complete hair regrowth by day 21, while BM-MSCs resulted in slower healing but also achieved full hair regrowth by day 21. Aloe vera improved collagen fiber arrangement and increased collagen synthesis, contributing to faster wound healing due to its pharmacologically active ingredients. Both treatments were effective, but aloe vera was more efficient in accelerating burn wound healing compared to BM-MSCs.
