TLDR Aloe vera heals deep second-degree burns faster and better than mesenchymal stem cells.
The study compared the effects of aloe vera and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) on healing deep second-degree burns in 60 adult female albino rats. Results showed that after 14 days, both treatments led to fully regenerated epidermis, but aloe vera resulted in a significant decrease in collagen fiber density. By 21 days, aloe vera-treated burns had nearly normal collagen fiber arrangement, while MSC-treated burns showed increased epidermal thickness and interwoven collagen fibers. Overall, topical aloe vera promoted faster and better burn wound healing than MSCs.
