TLDR Later line chemotherapy causes severe side effects, impacting quality of life, but patients continue treatment to extend life and stay connected with loved ones.
This study qualitatively explores the experiences of 25 patients with advanced cancers (endometrial, cervical, gastric, and EGFRm positive non-small cell lung cancer) who have progressed to second-line and later therapies. The research highlights significant treatment-related side effects, such as gastrointestinal and neurological issues, which severely impact patients' quality of life across physical, emotional, and social domains. Common challenges include persistent fatigue, reduced mobility, emotional distress, and social isolation. Despite these burdens, patients remain motivated to continue treatment to prolong survival and maintain connections with loved ones. The findings underscore the importance of integrating patient-centered approaches in antibody-drug conjugate treatments to better address quality of life needs.
