Precocious Pubarche in a 7-Year-Old Patient: A Case Report

Manuel Flores Sáenz, Julia Rodríguez Redondo
TLDR A 7-year-old girl developed early pubic hair growth without other puberty signs, diagnosed as isolated premature pubarche.
This case report discusses a 7-year and 9-month-old female patient who presented with precocious pubarche, characterized by the early development of pubic hair without other signs of puberty. Despite an increase in growth velocity, the patient showed no other symptoms such as body odor or axillary hair growth. Her medical history was unremarkable, and endocrine-metabolic screening was negative. Family history revealed early menarche and hirsutism in the mother, who also had ovulation issues and muscular atrophy. The patient's physical examination and hormonal studies were normal, leading to a diagnosis of Isolated Premature Pubarche. A quarterly outpatient follow-up was planned.

Consult a doctor before starting treatments like minoxidil and finasteride, as underlying issues like vitamin D deficiency can affect hair loss. While some believe androgenic alopecia is the most common cause, addressing all potential causes can lead to better results.
