Regional Differences in Dorsal Skin Determine the Rate of Adhesive Material-Induced Hair Regeneration

    The study investigates the regional differences in hair regeneration on mouse dorsal skin induced by adhesive material (cyanoacrylate). It was found that hair regrowth occurs earlier at cranial sites compared to caudal sites, a difference that persists through various hair growth phases. This variation is not explained by the expression of Hox genes, which were higher at caudal sites. RNA sequencing revealed distinct baseline profiles between cranial and caudal sites, including differences in the Wnt inhibitor Sfrp4 and adipogenic genes Pparγ and Fabp4. The study highlights the importance of considering cranial-to-caudal position in hair-regeneration and wound-healing experiments in mice.
