TLDR Tofacitinib helped a patient regrow hair after 40 years of total hair loss.
A case report describes a patient with a 40-year history of Alopecia Universalis (AU) who experienced complete hair regrowth on the scalp and eyebrows after less than three years of consistent treatment with oral Tofacitinib, a JAK inhibitor. Tofacitinib, approved for various autoimmune conditions like Rheumatoid Arthritis, shows promise as a treatment for AU, a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by total hair loss. This case highlights the potential of Tofacitinib as an effective therapy for AU, despite the lack of established treatment guidelines for the condition.
