Safety and Efficacy of Low Level Laser for Alopecia : A Systematic Review

This systematic review aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of low-level laser therapy for alopecia by analyzing 8 randomized controlled trials. The meta-analysis indicated that low-level laser therapy, especially when combined with minoxidil 5%, showed favorable results compared to minoxidil 5% alone and placebo light. No serious side effects were reported. However, all studies exhibited a high risk of bias, leading to the conclusion that there was limited evidence to support the efficacy of low-level laser therapy for alopecia, and further well-designed RCTs were recommended.
