The SAHA syndrome, identified in 1982, described the association of seborrhea and acne with hirsutism and/or androgenetic alopecia in women, highlighting signs of peripheral hyperandrogenism in young females. It shared clinical characteristics with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
