Scale-Up of a Medicinal and Aromatic Plant-Based Shampoo Formulation: Physicochemical Quality, Microbiological Safety, and Stability Analyses

    This study successfully scaled up a plant-based shampoo formulation for dry and damaged hair from a 100 mL laboratory scale to a 40,000 mL industrial production scale, maintaining its quality, safety, and stability. The formulation included nonionic and amphoteric surfactants, moisturizing agents, plant-derived keratin, and essential oils. Physicochemical parameters such as pH, viscosity, and density were consistently monitored, and microbiological safety was ensured through ISO-standard assessments. The formulation met all microbiological safety requirements and retained its characteristics across scales, demonstrating the feasibility of industrially scaling naturally derived hair care products with rigorous quality control.
