TLDR The hydrogel speeds up wound healing by fighting bacteria and helping tissue regrow.
The study introduces a multifunctional silk fibroin hydrogel, PBCTS@PNF, designed to accelerate wound healing by integrating antibacterial, antioxidant, and regenerative properties. The hydrogel demonstrates significant antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus, promotes tissue regeneration, and supports hair follicle regeneration. It features dynamic cross-linking for excellent adhesion, self-healing, and pH responsiveness. In vivo tests on 48 Sprague Dawley rats showed improved wound healing, with near-complete healing by day 14, minimal scarring, and enhanced cosmetic outcomes. The hydrogel's incorporation of Panax notoginseng flower buds enhances its anti-inflammatory and angiogenic effects, making it a promising candidate for wound management and tissue regeneration.
