Single-Cell Analysis Reveals Distinct Functional Heterogeneity of CD34+ Cells in Anagen and Diabetic Wounds

    This study investigated the functional heterogeneity of CD34+ cells in anagen and diabetic wounds using single-cell RNA sequencing. Researchers identified 10 cell clusters and 6 cell types, including endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and macrophages. In anagen wounds, CD34+ fibroblasts C2, associated with inflammation and extracellular matrix, were predominant. Diabetic wounds showed increased CD34+ endothelial cells, fibroblasts C4, and neutrophils, with decreased fibroblasts C1. Differentially expressed genes were analyzed to understand enriched pathways for each cell cluster. The findings provided insights into CD34+ cell roles in wound healing and suggested potential therapeutic approaches for treating wounds.
