TLDR Topical clascoterone may help treat hidradenitis suppurativa.
The document discussed the use of topical clascoterone cream 1% as a treatment for hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic inflammatory skin disease. A case study of a 23-year-old woman with HS showed significant improvement after using clascoterone cream, with a reduction in the number and pain of lesions. The patient experienced fewer lesions and less pain during menstruation, and her quality of life improved. Clascoterone, which inhibits dihydrotestosterone (DHT) binding to androgen receptors, may be effective for patients with a hormonal component to their HS. The study suggested that clascoterone could be a promising treatment option, especially for those who wish to avoid systemic side effects of other therapies, although further research is needed to confirm its efficacy.
