TLDR The serum with microneedling effectively treats alopecia areata by enhancing drug delivery and is safe and patient-friendly.
This study developed a triamcinolone acetonide serum combined with a derma stamp microneedling device to enhance the treatment of alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition causing hair loss. The serum, formulated using propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 400, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, achieved optimal solubility and texture, with a skin-compatible pH and appropriate viscosity. Safety and compatibility were confirmed through various tests, including FTIR, HET-CAM, and skin irritation assessments. The derma stamp facilitates deeper drug delivery by creating microchannels, improving therapeutic effectiveness while being less invasive and more patient-friendly compared to traditional treatments.
