This study investigates the expression of intermediate filaments vimentin, desmin, and laminin in the skin tissue of adult rats. These components were found to exhibit varying levels of reaction in the medulla layer of hair, some connective tissue cells, the muscle layer of the skin, hair retractor muscles, the medulla of hair, certain blood vessels, and the outer epithelial cells of hair. The findings suggest that, similar to other mammals, the expression of vimentin, desmin, and laminin in specific cell groups in rat skin contributes to the cytoskeleton and tissue integrity.
