C-Met, also known as the hepatocyte growth factor receptor (HGFR), is a protein found on the surface of certain cells. It plays a crucial role in cell growth, movement, and differentiation by binding to its specific ligand, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). This interaction is important in various biological processes, including tissue regeneration and wound healing, but it can also contribute to cancer progression when dysregulated.
