    GlossaryAdrenal Hyperandrogenism

overproduction of male hormones by adrenal glands

Adrenal Hyperandrogenism, also known as Adrenal Androgen Excess, is a condition where the adrenal glands produce an abnormally high level of androgens, which are male sex hormones like testosterone. This can lead to symptoms such as excessive hair growth (hirsutism), acne, and irregular menstrual cycles in women, and can be associated with conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).
