October 2024 in “Artificial Cells Nanomedicine and Biotechnology” The study investigated the use of Lens culinaris L. total extract (LCTE) for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (LC-AgNPs) and evaluated their anticancer and antimicrobial properties. The LC-AgNPs, characterized as spherical with an average size of 19.22 nm, demonstrated potent cytotoxic activity against MCF-7, HCT-116, and HepG2 cancer cell lines, with IC50 values of 0.37, 0.35, and 0.1 µg/mL, respectively. They induced apoptosis and affected cell cycle phases differently across the cell lines. Additionally, LC-AgNPs showed strong antimicrobial activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter baumannii. Molecular docking identified Kaempferol-3-O-robinoside-7-O-rhamnoside and Quercetin-3-D-xyloside as key constituents inhibiting Bcl-2 and IspC cancer targets when combined with the nanoparticles.
