July 2026 in “Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology” This retrospective cohort study examined the link between GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP agonists and the risk of developing scarring and non-scarring alopecia. Using data from TriNetX, the study included 1,313,951 patients aged 18-90 with a BMI > 30 kg/m² or > 27 kg/m² with a weight-related condition, excluding those diagnosed with alopecia before 2017. Patients treated with semaglutide, liraglutide, exenatide, dulaglutide, or tirzepatide were matched with non-treated controls.
