Lichen Planus is an inflammatory condition that affects the skin and mucous membranes, leading to purplish, itchy, flat-topped bumps. In the context of hair, it can cause a type of scarring alopecia known as lichen planopilaris, where the inflammation targets hair follicles, potentially leading to permanent hair loss.
