April 2026 in “Frontiers in Physiology” This study investigates the hair growth-promoting potential of nanovesicles derived from Polygonum multiflorum roots (PM-NVs). The PM-NVs were shown to be spherical and effectively internalized by human dermal papilla cells (DPCs), leading to increased cell proliferation and activation of β-catenin signaling. This activation resulted in the upregulation of target genes and enhanced hair shaft elongation in ex vivo cultured human hair follicles. The findings suggest that PM-NVs could serve as a natural and biocompatible therapeutic option for hair follicle regeneration and alopecia treatment.
