March 2026 in “DergiPark (Istanbul University)” This study evaluated the skin care and cosmetic habits, sun protection awareness, and attitudes towards cosmetic procedures among 236 pregnant women aged 18 and over, with a pregnancy duration of at least 10 weeks. The average age was 29.84 years, and the average pregnancy week was 31.67. The most purchased cosmetic products were personal hygiene items (71.2%), perfume (50.7%), and skin care products (36.7%), with moisturizers (63.6%), night creams (55.8%), and sunscreens (44.6%) being the most preferred skin care items. While 41.1% of participants reported sunbathing habits, 48.3% used sunscreen regularly. A positive, weak, and significant correlation was found between education levels and scores on the Sun Protection Behavior Scale and Green Cosmetic Consumption Scale. The study highlights that despite continued use of skin care and cosmetic products during pregnancy, awareness and practices regarding sun protection are inadequate. Educational programs before and during pregnancy could enhance awareness and informed choices about sun protection, safe ingredients, and cosmetic products and procedures.
