Tissue Plasminogen Activator (TPA) is a protein involved in the breakdown of blood clots. It converts plasminogen, an inactive protein in the blood, into plasmin, an enzyme that dissolves clots. TPA is often used in medical treatments to quickly dissolve clots in patients experiencing heart attacks or strokes.
