Long Ya Cao (Agrimonia Pilosa Ledeb.) Extract and Its Bioactive Constituent Agrimonolide Attenuate Chronic Inflammation and Accelerate Wound Healing in Rats Through Regulating Oxidative-Inflammatory Markers and Stimulating Collagen Production

    The study investigated the effects of Agrimonia pilosa extract (APE) and its bioactive constituent agrimonolide (AG) on inflammation and wound healing in rats. Topical application of APE and AG gels significantly reduced inflammation and accelerated wound healing, with APE-Gel (10%) and AG-Gel (0.5%) reducing paw edema by up to 40% and promoting over 85% wound closure by day 21. The treatments increased antioxidant levels and collagen production while decreasing inflammatory markers like TNF-α and IL-6. Molecular docking showed AG had favorable binding to GSK-3 and TNF-α. These results suggest APE and AG have potential therapeutic benefits, though further studies are needed for clinical validation.
