Association of JAK 1 and JAK 2 gene polymorphism with alopecia areata risk: a case–control genetic study

    This study investigated the association between JAK1 and JAK2 gene polymorphisms and alopecia areata (AA) risk by analyzing DNA from 40 AA patients and 40 healthy controls. The findings revealed that the AG genotype of JAK1 rs310241 was significantly more common in AA patients (64%) compared to controls (40%), indicating a 4.6-fold increased risk of developing AA. In contrast, JAK2 polymorphisms showed no significant association with AA. These results suggest that JAK1 rs310241 may be linked to AA susceptibility, although further research with larger and more diverse populations is necessary to confirm these findings and explore the functional impacts of these polymorphisms.
