TLDR Viddhakarma may effectively regrow hair in alopecia areata without side effects.
This case study explores the Ayurvedic management of alopecia areata, known as Indralupta, using Viddhakarma, a para-surgical procedure. A 21-year-old male with patchy hair loss underwent Viddhakarma twice weekly for six weeks, along with internal medications Panchatikta Ghrita and Asthiposhaka Vati. The treatment resulted in significant hair regrowth and improvement in the SALT score, with no adverse effects. The study suggests that Viddhakarma could be a safe, cost-effective outpatient Ayurvedic intervention for alopecia areata.
