Dupilumab: A Potential Option for Young Children With Alopecia Areata and Atopic Features

This study evaluated the use of dupilumab in 10 young children (ages 1-11) with alopecia areata (AA) and atopic features at Beijing Children’s Hospital. The results showed early and progressive hair regrowth in all patients, with complete regrowth achieved during follow-up. Additionally, total and allergen-specific IgE levels decreased during treatment. Two patients experienced a temporary relapse after an upper respiratory infection but improved with continued therapy. No serious adverse events were reported. While the findings suggest that dupilumab may be a promising treatment for pediatric AA with atopic features, the small sample size warrants cautious interpretation.
