TLDR PCOS treatment should be personalized based on individual symptoms and health goals.
This review emphasizes the importance of individualized treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is a diverse endocrine-metabolic disorder with varying manifestations among women. It suggests that management should be guided by the dominant clinical manifestation, such as hyperandrogenism, menstrual dysfunction, or insulin resistance, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. The review highlights the integration of lifestyle changes, pharmacological treatments, and reproductive interventions tailored to each woman's symptoms, reproductive goals, and health risks. Key treatments include lifestyle modification, combined oral contraceptives, metformin, letrozole, antiandrogens, and new agents like GLP-1 receptor agonists and inositols. This personalized approach aims to improve symptom control, reproductive outcomes, and reduce long-term health risks.
