TLDR An integrated treatment approach effectively managed plaque psoriasis, leading to complete symptom resolution and hair regrowth.
A single case study explored the effectiveness of an integrated Shodhana-Shamana chikitsa protocol in treating a 33-year-old male with treatment-resistant Ekakustha, correlating with plaque psoriasis. The patient, who had widespread psoriasis for 12 months, underwent a treatment regimen including Nidana parivarjana, Deepana-Pachana, Snehapana, Abhyanga-Swedana, Virechana, and a 30-day Shamana therapy. The Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score improved from severe to absent by Day 45, with complete resolution of symptoms and significant hair regrowth. The study concludes that this integrated approach effectively manages Ekakustha and suggests further multicentric trials.
