Association of JAK1 and JAK2 Gene Polymorphism With Alopecia Areata Risk: A Case-Control Genetic Study

    This study examined the link between JAK1 and JAK2 gene polymorphisms and alopecia areata (AA) risk in 40 patients and 40 healthy controls. It found that the AG genotype of the JAK1 gene was significantly more common in AA patients, associated with a 4.6-fold increased risk of AA. No significant differences were observed for JAK2 polymorphisms. The study suggests a potential association between JAK1 rs310241 polymorphism and AA susceptibility, emphasizing the need for larger studies to confirm these findings. Limitations include the small sample size and focus on mild AA cases.
