TLDR Platelets can help heal and regenerate tissues, but personalized methods are needed for best results.
Platelets, known for their role in hemostasis and thrombosis, also contain growth factors and secrete cytokines, making them valuable in regenerative medicine. Their properties, including chemotactic, angiogenic, immunomodulatory, and cell differentiation capabilities, have been harnessed to promote tissue regeneration in bones, tendons, ligaments, and wounds. The efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) have been demonstrated, but standardized protocols and clinical studies are necessary to optimize outcomes. The variability in platelet count, growth factors, and application methods can affect results, highlighting the need for personalized approaches.
