Position of Systemic Therapy in the Treatment of Lichen Pigmentosus

This study investigates the effectiveness of tranexamic acid (TXA) and oral retinoids in treating lichen plan pigmentosus (LPP), a challenging pigmentation disorder. Involving 39 patients, the study found that more than half experienced moderate to good improvements, especially those receiving a combination of low-dose retinoids and TXA. The treatments were generally safe, with only minor side effects that did not necessitate discontinuation. The findings suggest that TXA and oral retinoids could be promising treatments for LPP, though larger trials are necessary to confirm these results and enhance treatment strategies.
