TLDR Early diagnosis and aggressive treatment are essential for managing Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome effectively.
This case report discusses a 27-year-old female with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome (VKHS), a rare autoimmune condition affecting melanocyte-rich tissues. The patient presented with sudden hair loss and scalp tenderness, alongside prior symptoms like headaches, tinnitus, and vision issues. Diagnosis was confirmed through ophthalmic evaluations showing retinal detachments and hyper-fluorescence. Treatment involved high-dose corticosteroids and azathioprine due to side effects. VKHS progresses through stages, with skin involvement indicating disease control issues. Prompt diagnosis and aggressive anti-inflammatory treatment are crucial for managing VKHS effectively.
