June 2026 in “Dermatology” This retrospective cohort study at Sheba Medical Center analyzed 141 patients with lichen planopilaris (LPP) and frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) to compare their clinical characteristics, treatments, outcomes, and prognostic factors. The study found that FFA had a higher cumulative remission rate (68.3%) compared to LPP (45.7%), although both conditions had similar early remission rates and time to remission. FFA was more prevalent in postmenopausal women and had an older age of onset, while LPP patients reported more pain and pruritus. Relapse rates were similar for both conditions during and after treatment. Mild baseline severity was a strong predictor of early remission in LPP, but other potential prognostic factors did not remain significant after correction and require further validation.
