The study found that strawberry guava extract (SGE) promotes hair growth in both mice and humans by enhancing skin blood flow and increasing vascular endothelial growth factor production. In mice, SGE improved hair growth, skin blood flow, and elasticity. In a human trial with 21 men experiencing hair thinning, a 24-week course of SGE led to a significant increase in hair count and growth area. Key components like adenosine and pedunculagin were identified as contributors to these effects. The study supports SGE's potential as a functional food ingredient for hair growth interventions, with no adverse events reported.
