Dystrophic hairs are hairs that have been damaged or weakened, often due to underlying conditions such as alopecia areata or other scalp disorders. These hairs typically appear thin, fragile, and may break easily, reflecting a disruption in the normal hair growth cycle. For professionals, the presence of dystrophic hairs can be a diagnostic clue indicating an active disease process affecting the hair follicles.
