This study involving 970 PCOS patients found that elevated 1-hour plasma glucose (1 h-PG) is associated with adverse metabolic characteristics and increased risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), similar to traditional 2-hour plasma glucose (2 h-PG) levels. Patients with isolated 1 h-prediabetes showed a higher likelihood of developing hypertension, hyperlipidemia, metabolic syndrome, and hyperuricemia, with adjusted odds ratios of 1.451, 1.706, 2.957, and 1.890, respectively. Additionally, the risk of GDM was significantly higher in this group, with an adjusted odds ratio of 4.065. The findings suggest that 1 h-PG could be a valuable marker for identifying adverse metabolic status in women with PCOS.
