420-450 / 1000+ resultsresearch Post bariatric surgery complications, nutritional and psychological status.
This study on 63 post-bariatric surgery patients found significant weight loss, with mean weight dropping from 129.5 kg/m² to 85.0 kg/m², and a 55% decline in clinically severe obesity. However, common complications included hair loss (50.8%), GERD (49.2%), and vomiting (41.3%). Nutrient deficiencies were noted, particularly in protein, fat, calcium, and iron intake. While most patients experienced normal levels of stress, anxiety, and depression, a small percentage faced mild to severe anxiety. The study concludes that despite weight improvements, patients need to adhere to dietary and lifestyle changes and suggests a nutrition module to aid adaptation post-surgery.
