Management of Canine Wounds Using Platelet-Rich Fibrin Biomaterial: A Case Series Report

This study explored the use of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) therapy in treating cutaneous wounds in eight dogs, aged 7 months to 9 years. The treatment involved applying autologous PRF without additional antiseptics or antibiotics, and it was well tolerated across all cases. The PRF acted as a natural tissue filler, promoting significant granulation tissue formation, epithelization, and wound closure. Larger wounds showed evident skin contraction, and all treatments resulted in minimal aesthetic scarring with observed hair growth. The study concluded that PRF therapy is a promising alternative for wound treatment, supporting natural skin healing through its biological regenerative action.
