March 2020 in “Acta veterinaria Scandinavica” The study investigated the regenerative potential of allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs) in canine cutaneous wounds. ASCs were intradermally injected into wounds, while control wounds received a topical antibacterial ointment. Results showed that ASC-treated wounds exhibited enhanced epidermal and dermal regeneration, characterized by the absence of inflammatory infiltrates and the presence of multiple hair follicles, compared to control wounds. Additionally, ASCs demonstrated an immunomodulatory effect by inhibiting T lymphocyte proliferation. Overall, ASC treatment led to faster and more effective wound healing than conventional methods in the canine subject.
