The potential mechanisms include weight loss-induced stress, hormonal changes, and alterations in adipose tissue affecting hair follicle cycling. Despite the low absolute risk, the consistent association across studies calls for further research. Interestingly, GLP-1RAs may also promote hair regrowth in patients with diabetes or metabolic dysfunction by reducing inflammation and improving vascular function, particularly in inflammatory and scarring alopecias. However, these findings are primarily based on small case reports and require cautious interpretation. Dermatology practitioners should monitor patients on GLP-1RA therapy for hair changes and consider proactive treatments for hair loss.
