May 2026 in “Russian Journal of Skin and Venereal Diseases” This study evaluated the cosmetic efficacy of salmon tissue-derived exosomes compared to platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating androgenetic alopecia in 40 participants. The exosome group showed significantly greater improvements in hair density, terminal/vellus hair ratio, anagen proportion, and mean hair diameter compared to the PRP group. Specifically, hair density increased by 44.4 hairs/cm² in the exosome group versus 26.3 hairs/cm² in the PRP group, and the terminal/vellus ratio rose more significantly in the exosome group. Additionally, the exosome treatment resulted in fewer transient local reactions. These findings suggest that exosomes may have a deeper impact on hair growth mechanisms, offering a more effective treatment option for androgenetic alopecia.
