December 2022 in “Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology” Extracellular vesicles show promise for wound healing, but more research is needed to improve their stability and production.
May 2026 in “World Journal of Stem Cells” Hypoxic preconditioning significantly enhances the regenerative potential of aged adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs). In a study involving 24 donors (12 young and 12 aged), aged ADMSCs subjected to hypoxic conditions (3% O2) showed improved growth kinetics, reduced senescence, and enhanced differentiation and migration capabilities compared to those cultured under normoxic conditions. Gene expression analysis revealed upregulation of regenerative and survival-related genes and downregulation of pro-apoptotic and senescence-associated genes. This approach holds promise for improving the efficacy of autologous regenerative therapies in aesthetic dermatology.
