Fermented Yeast Complex Extract Promotes Hair Regrowth by Decreasing Oxidative Stress

The study explores the effects of Fermented Yeast Complex Extract (FYCE) on hair regrowth by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in dermal papilla cells (DPCs) treated with hydrogen peroxide and in animal models. FYCE increased the expression of NRF2, a key antioxidant factor, and decreased NF-κB activity, which is involved in inflammation. It also reduced the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and increased levels of IGF-1 and Wnt signaling, crucial for hair growth. In animal models, FYCE enhanced hair follicle numbers and prolonged the anagen phase of hair growth. Although less effective than minoxidil, FYCE showed potential as a milder alternative with fewer side effects, suggesting its promise as a treatment for hair loss by enhancing antioxidative and anti-inflammatory pathways.
