technique to identify active regulatory regions in the genome

FAIRE-seq, or Formaldehyde-Assisted Isolation of Regulatory Elements sequencing, is a technique used to identify regions of the genome that are active in regulating gene expression. It works by using formaldehyde to crosslink DNA and proteins, then isolating the DNA that is not tightly bound to proteins, which typically corresponds to regulatory elements like enhancers and promoters. This isolated DNA is then sequenced to map these regulatory regions across the genome.
