March 2026 in “Jurnal Ilmiah Ibnu Sina (JIIS) Ilmu Farmasi dan Kesehatan” This study investigates the antifungal activity of ethanol extract from garden balsam leaves (Impatiens balsamina L.) formulated into a hair serum as a natural alternative to chemical antifungal treatments for dandruff caused by Candida albicans. The study evaluated the physical properties of the extract and serum and their antifungal efficacy using in vitro disc diffusion. The extract showed a yield of 36.66% and high solubility in water and ethanol. The serum demonstrated good physical properties, including spreadability and viscosity. However, neither the extract nor the serum exhibited antifungal activity against Candida albicans, as no inhibition zones were observed, unlike the positive control (2% ketoconazole shampoo), which showed a strong inhibition zone of 46.03 mm.
