April 2026 in “Preprints.org” This study demonstrates that enhancing the bioavailability of quercetin using EubioQuercetin (EQN) significantly improves aging phenotypes in aged male C57BL/6J mice by modulating the gut microbiota–intestinal barrier axis. Over 12 weeks, EQN treatment reduced the composite aging score, which includes hair glossiness, hair loss, and white hair presence, more effectively than conventional quercetin. EQN altered gut microbiota composition by suppressing aging-associated taxa and increasing beneficial bacteria, while also improving intestinal barrier function by modulating gene expression. These results suggest that bioavailable quercetin could be a promising strategy for promoting healthy aging through gut microbiota modulation.
